Evidence Base

We work closely with our clients to establish the reasons for developing an evidence base.  This allows us to understand what questions or issues the evidence needs to address.  From this the relevant research and analysis programmes can be developed.  While our work focuses on economic and business priorities, factors such as skills, education and crime tend to be involved.

We use a number of research techniques:

  • Desk research
  • Focus Groups
  • Quantitative analysis
  • Policy reviews
  • Surveys

In all cases we consider it vital that the evidence answers the ‘so-what’ test.  Unless the information and data uncovered provides insight and helps answer vital questions it is of little use.

In addition to public data we have access to proprietary databases of businesses across the UK.  This allows us to take measured views and highlight potential discrepancies in the data.
